40.73% of land holdings in Kayin State used HYV seeds and 10.09% used pesticides.
Although 78.29% of land holdings used organic fertilizers, only 38.14% of land
holdings used inorganic fertilizers. The same is true for houshold-based land
holdings. As for special land holdings, 66.67% of holding used inorganic
fertilizers and 55.56% used organic fertilizers. Thus more household-based land
holdings used organic fertilizers than organic fertilizers, whereas more special land
holdings used inorganic fertilizers than organic fertilizers. Percentages of
household-based land holdings using HYV seeds ( 40.74% as against 22.22% ) organic
fertilizers (78.31% as against 55.56%) were larger than those of special land
holding and percentages of special land holdings using inorganic fertilizers
(66.67% as against 38.12%), pesticides (66.67% as against 10.06%) were although
larger than those of household-based land holdings. Expect the use of HYV seeds,
special land holdings were found to be able to use more of the modern farming
practices compared to household-based land holdings.(Table 10,11)
